The MegaTank guide — when it's the right choice
What separates tanks from cartridges, and who genuinely benefits from the technology.
MegaTank is Canon's answer to the most expensive problem in printing: cartridges. Instead of a cartridge that runs out every 200 pages, the device has tanks you refill from bottles that print thousands of pages.
The real benefits
- A dramatically lower cost per page — that's the core benefit; the rest is detail. Transparent tanks, so you see the ink level with your own eyes, no software needed. Far fewer refills, meaning fewer interruptions to your work. Ink bottles store more easily than cartridges and keep longer.
When it isn't the right choice
If you print under 50 pages a month, the higher device price won't pay back. If you print high volumes of text, laser is faster and more suitable. MegaTank shines in between: regular printing that mixes colour and text.
