These are the two cheapest laser devices in the catalog, at exactly the same print speed. The real difference is one thing: one prints, the other prints, copies and scans.
Speed is identical (18 ppm), both are A4 and USB. The entire price difference buys copying and scanning. If you will copy or scan even once a day, the MF3010 saves you buying a second device. If it is printing only, the LBP6030B is cheaper and smaller.

Neither device offers automatic double-sided printing — you flip the paper by hand. If you regularly print double-sided documents, this will frustrate you, and a higher model with automatic duplex is the better fit. We mention it because it is the thing customers are most often surprised by after purchase.
The MF3010 scans one sheet at a time on the glass. That is plenty for occasional scanning — an invoice, a contract, a copy of an ID. But if you scan multi-page documents daily, a model with a document feeder is the better fit.
Still unsure? Tell us your monthly volume and what you use it for and we will recommend — often the cheaper one.
Ask usYes — both take Cartridge 725 (around 1,600 pages). That is a practical advantage if you run both: one cartridge covers them and you do not need to stock two types.
No, both are USB only. If printing from a phone or from more than one computer matters, you need a model with network or Wi-Fi.
